How solar works

From sunlight to your switchboard

Your panels make power all day. You use what you need, and the extra goes to the grid as bill credit. Switch between day and night to see how the power flows, then tap any part to learn what it does.

Tap any part of the diagram or the list to see what it does.
Part 1 of 7 · The free fuel

Sunlight

Sunlight is the only fuel your system needs. The more direct sun your roof gets, the more power you make.

By dayStrongest from late morning to mid-afternoon.
By nightNo sunlight, so the panels rest.
  • Cloudy days still give some power, just less
  • A shade-free roof matters: even one shaded panel can pull down the rest
Part 2 of 7 · Turn light into DC power

Solar panels

Silicon cells in each panel turn sunlight into DC electricity. They sit on a rust-proof structure, tilted to catch the most sun.

By dayMaking DC power all day.
By nightIdle until sunrise.
  • Wash off dust regularly for the best output
  • Good panels carry a performance warranty of around 25 years
Part 3 of 7 · The brain of the system

Inverter

Your appliances run on AC, but panels make DC. The inverter converts it, balances solar, battery and grid, and shows your generation on an app.

By dayConverting solar DC into AC for your home.
By nightA hybrid inverter runs your home from the battery.
  • An on-grid inverter switches off in a power cut, for line workers’ safety
  • Wi-Fi monitoring shows units made every day
Part 4 of 7 · Uses solar first

Your home

Your fans, fridge, lights and AC use solar power first. You only take from the grid what solar can’t cover.

By dayAppliances run on your own solar power.
By nightRuns on the battery or the grid.
  • Run heavy loads like the washing machine or pump in daytime
  • Every solar unit you use is one less unit on your bill
Part 5 of 7 · Counts both ways

Net meter

A two-way meter fitted by the electricity board. It counts units you send to the grid and units you take back.

By dayCounting extra units exported to the grid.
By nightCounting units imported from the grid.
  • Your bill is based on imported minus exported units
  • We apply for the net meter with the board for you
Part 6 of 7 · Your backup bank

Power grid

The electricity board’s network takes your extra solar by day and gives power back when you need it, like a bank for units.

By dayReceiving the extra power from your roof.
By nightSupplying power while solar is off.
  • How export credit works depends on your state’s rules
  • Want power during cuts? Add a battery with a hybrid system
Part 7 of 7 · Stores power for later

Battery

In hybrid and off-grid systems, extra solar charges a battery so your essentials keep running at night and during power cuts.

By dayCharging from extra solar.
By nightPowering lights, fans and Wi-Fi during cuts.
  • Lithium batteries last longer and need no water top-ups
  • We size it for the loads you want backed up

Wind + solar hybrid

Sun by day, wind round the clock

Panels stop at sunset. A small wind turbine doesn't. Together they keep your battery charging at night, in monsoon cloud and through the winter.

  • Battery keeps charging at night and on cloudy days
  • Made for off-grid farms, coastal and hill sites, and telecom towers
  • One hybrid controller runs both wind and solar
  • We check the wind at your site first, and tell you if solar alone is the better buy

Vertical-axis turbine

Catches wind from any direction and runs quietly. A good fit for rooftops and gusty sites where the wind keeps changing.

Horizontal-axis turbine

The classic three-blade design. Gives more power in steady, strong wind on an open site with a taller tower.

How it works

Two sources, one steady supply

Sun and wind both feed one hybrid controller. It charges the battery and sends power to the inverter, so your load keeps running whichever one is working.

  1. 1

    Panels work in sunshine

Most of your power on clear days.

  2. 2

    The turbine fills the gaps

At night, in cloud and in windy seasons.

  3. 3

    The controller manages both

Charges the battery and brakes the turbine in storms.

  4. 4

    The inverter runs your load

Lights, fans, pumps and equipment on clean AC.

Installation process

How we set up your wind turbine

From checking the wind to switching on, one team handles every step.

  1. We look at your location, open space, nearby trees and buildings, and how steady the wind is through the year.

  2. We size the turbine, panels and battery together to match what you need to run, day and night.

  3. A concrete base and a galvanised pole or guyed tower, set at the right height to reach cleaner wind.

  4. The turbine goes up on the tower and the panels on their structure, all bolted and checked for vibration.

  5. A hybrid charge controller with a brake, plus battery, inverter, earthing and lightning arrester.

  6. We test output in real wind, show you the monitoring and set up a maintenance plan.

FAQ

Solar questions, answered

How much subsidy can I get for rooftop solar at home?

Under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, homes can get a central subsidy of ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third kW, up to ₹78,000. Rules can change, so we confirm the current amount and help with the application.

What is the difference between on-grid, off-grid and hybrid solar?

On-grid systems connect to the electricity grid and export extra power through net metering. Off-grid systems run on batteries without the grid. Hybrid systems do both, giving backup during power cuts while still using net metering.

What size solar system do I need?

It depends on your monthly units. As a rough guide, 1 kW produces about 4 units a day, or around 120 units a month. Use the calculator on this page, and we confirm the size after a site visit.

How much roof space does solar need?

Plan for roughly 80 to 100 square feet of shade-free roof per kW. A 3 kW home system usually needs about 300 square feet.

How long does installation take?

The installation itself usually takes 1 to 3 days for a home. The full process, including electricity board approval and net-meter fitting, normally takes a few weeks, and we follow up for you.

How long do solar panels last?

Good quality panels usually carry a performance warranty of around 25 years. Inverters and batteries have shorter lives and warranties, which we list in the quote.

Do you provide service after installation?

Yes. We offer cleaning, health checks, repairs and annual maintenance so the system keeps producing what it should.
